' 691-JylOp Th'e case of the government against the settlers of the Loon Lake forest reserve, which has occupied the at-1 tention of the land office for some' time, came to a close last evening. A decision in the case will probably be given in about a month. j James J. Davis, of Portland will! be in this city tomorrow and will deliver an address at the Eagles ; hall. Mr. Davis is one of the organis ers of the Moose lodge and Is a flu ent speaker. His lecture will be given to the members and friends of the Moose lodge and will start at 8 o'clock. Mrs. Roy Fisher left this morning for her home at Kellogg after a visit in this city. Mr. and Mrs. El E. Wimborly were among those who attended the cele-l bration at Sutherlin. Mrs. Ed. Billings and children left this morning for Ashland where they will visit with friends and relatives for a week or ten days. Wilbiir, of Portland, spent the day yesterday visiting at the home of J. W. Perkins. He left for his home on a late train last night. Several others went in autos and on the train this, afternoon. The Douglas Fire Patrol has just completed eight miles of telephone between Camas Valley and Buck mountain where they have establish ed a lookout. The fire patrol is do ing everything in its power to pre vent the starting and spread cf for est fires in this county and the new line of telephone- is one of the chief aids of the department and w'l! prove a great saving of time and money in case of fire In that region, as men can be rushed to th9 scene of the conflagration in much shorter time than if the ranger hal lo tra verse the distance on foot.
