HOW CAN YOU PROVE THE CLAIMS? Call on the local manager, and he will prove conclusively that this company is the oldest in- America ; that it has written all insurance at the lowest net cost ; that it has paid the largest dividends ; that it is the leading company in Oregon ; that its expenses are the lowest ; that no scandal has ever been found in it ; that it is purely mutual and has no stockholders ; that its assets are far in excess of liabilities ; thai its reserve is the strongest in the world ; that a policy is about the only really " safe " investment you can make. READING, Pa., Nov. 2. Fill your coal bins and make othgr prepara tions for a severe winter. These t finely warnings are sounded follow- ir.) the annual meeting of the weath-; er prophets of Berks county, held at Virginsville, nine miles north of: Reading. For the first time in many years the weather prognosticators of this section, who have been meeting in annual session for the past 15 yeatrs periodically, agree in predict ing a severe winter. One reason given ror cold weather this winter is that not for many years have flies been as scarce as they have been this year. Caterpillars wasps and other insects disappeared earlier than usual, Samuel F. Glass, of Athol, who has been forecasting winter weather for 46 years said: "I find (that the groundhogs in my section have gone exceptionally deep this fall, and that Is a sure sign of a hard winter. The leaves are clinging to the trees long er than usual this fall, and this is another indication of intensely cold weather, with plenty of snow.
