On and after November 3, both the city recorder and the city treasuier will occupy quarters at the city hall. Mazie Walker left for her home! at Yoncalla yesterday after a few i days spent in Hoseburg visiting with' her sister, Olive Walker. The lat-i ter Miss Walker Is employed as steu-l ographer at the offices of Attorneys1 Brown and Eddy. j The government is advertising for bids for the carrying of parcel postj mail from Portland to Coos Bay, andj as the steamer Breakwater Is the only vessel making regular trips be-i tween the two ports, it is believed the! owners of that vessel will get the con tract. Mail has been going Into .the Coos Bay towns over the mountains from Roseburg and other points along the Southern Pacific In South ern Oregon, but in winter the con ditions are so bad that it is almost impossible to get heavv loads over the range and consequently there Is j much delay. The Coos Bay business: is constantly Increasing and the gov-j ernnient is seriously handicapped by! poor transpoftation facilities. With; the new railroad completed from Eugene to Coos Bay, the mail will be sent that way, r and government officials feel that their troubles for a time will be over. Oregon Jour-J nal. Campbell and children! left for Hood River this morning ' where they will join their husband nnd father who recently went there j to locate. The Campbells have - ed on a ranch about eight miles j enut of Roseburg for some time pnsti and only recently decided to locate nt Hood River. A quiet wedding was solrmni7odj nt the home of Rev, A. R. Maclean, in Roseburg. on October 22, when i Richard Klemtn, of Olalla. and Missj Anahel Stewart, of Ten Mile, were united In marriage. The weddingi ceremony was perfurmed by Rev. j Maelean nnd was witnessed by n few! Intimate friends of the contracting Mrs. I T. Dunning and son, Rey nolds, went to Ashland yesterday morning, to attend to some matters In connection with the death of a cousin of Mrs. Dunning, which oc curred recently. Dr. Shearer has decided to remove to Grants Pass, and has formed a partnership with Dr. Sweeney at that place. They will do a general I and hospital practice. The many friends of Dr. Shearer extend best wishes for his success In the new field. The formal transfer of the A. J. Colvin & Co. Hardware Co. took place Wednesday evening. The new purchasers will do business under the firm name of Harvey Hardware Co., who are now in possession. They in vite the people to call and become acquainted. Don Krasofr departed yesterday for Grants Pass. From there he ex pects to go to Sacramento, at which place he expects to take a position with a wholesale house, as traveling salesman, which position he held be fore coming to Glendale. His many friends wish him well, but regret his departure. Fire about two o'clock Monday morning totally destroyed the home of Mr. and Mrs. I. W. Bailey. Mirs. Bailey was spending the night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stevens, and knew, nothing of the fire until in formed by friends It is not known how the fire started.
