Oct. 21. Farmers week as- conducted this year will be a concentrated and de veloped farmers' Institute with all the machinery of tho Oregon Agri cultural College available for the farmers' use. The work will be in tensive, practical and objective The students of farmers' week will have the use of all the advantages sup plied by the state Instructors, build ings, laboratories, experiment plats, orchards, fields, gardens, livestock and machinery. One of the most important phases of the work will be rural organiza-. tlon, co-operation and credits. Farm ers who see the necessity of some thing more than large crops to make their work as uucressful as it should be will be informed of successful methods of organization and direct marketing, as practiced in most Eu ropean and In a few American coun tries. European farmers are mak ing better progress than American farmers. The chief causes of this are the better co-operative, credit and marketing methods of the European farmers. These systems will he ex plained by Dr. Hector Macpherson who went to Europe to investigate them, and recommendations for ru ral organization in Oregon will be made by himself and other experts. An opportunity will also be given farmers to examine the approved ma chinery and tools of the college col lection, and as far as possible to test their merits. The dairy demonstrations will in clude selection, feed and manage ment of the dairy herd; sanitary methods of milking and handling milk; and separating, ripening and manufacturing cream.
