The News was In error when It
recently stated that the divorce suit
of Mrs. M. C. Chesnut vs. T. A. Ches
nut was settled and dismissed. On
the contrary, there was no settle
ment of any nature between the
parties Involved. Attorney Charles
L. Hamilton, who represented Mrs.
Chesnut. simply asked that the case
be dismissed, and an order to such
effect was entered In the court jour
nal by Judge J. W. Hamilton. Mr.
Chesnut, who Is at present In Kose
burg Is much pleased with Douglas
county and It may be possible that he
will decide to locate here at some
future date.
In the circuit court late yeslerday
afternoon. Judge Hamilton authoriz
ed an Injunction restraining the di
rectors of school dlstirct No. 6. near
Myrtle Creek, from issuing or sell
ing bonds against the said school
district for the purpose of erecting
a new school house. Mr. Wiley
brought the suit against the directors
of tho school district several weeks
ago, and at the time claimed the
board had no right to float bonds un
less the same were legally authoriz
ed by the voters of the district. Mr.
Wiley claimed that the directors had
voted two taxes of thFeo mills each
during the past two years, and that
the money renllzed from such a
source was sufficient with which to
erect a suitable school building. In
fact. Mr. Wiley claims that the direc
tors of the- district old a better
school house for $10 than tho one
