NEWS WANT ADVS GET RESULTS Cookery points -The School Lunch. Sandwiches are the standby for the school lunch. Variety in the kinds of bread used Is most desirable. Nearly every kind of meat is usable, und there are also the various pastes made from ; all sorts of scraps and leftovers in thej meat line, put through the chopping ' machine and Reasoned to suit the eh II Urea's tnstes. Cold chicken, ronst beef, in tab, bam and even thin slices of beef-. steak (wrapped in paratfln paper t hejp '. to add to the variety and are nhvavH! acceptable. It is a good Idea to savej nil the puper from the cracker boxes j und use it to wrap the different articles ' In, so that they do not taste of one uu-j other. j - A tnost delicious tilling for cm hum sandwiches is made of cream cheese t" which have beeu added some chopped j nut meats, olives or a wee bit of preen pepper. For another Kood filling tnke the yolks of hard boiled eggs, add pop-1 per and salt and a tiuy pinch of curry powder. Mix to n paste and spread rather thick. These may be varied by j n little catsup or sauce of uuy kind in stead of the curry. Hard boiled eggs from which the yolks have been removed may be stuff ed with 'spinach, seasoned to taste or with chopped nut meats, cold ham or celery dressed with either mayonnaise or French dressing. Another way Is to stuff them with chipped ham mixed with a bit of the yolk and vinegar. pe per and salt, or just'eheese and mayon naise may be used. Below are given the, menus for a week's lunches, which could, however, be varied indefinitely: Monday. liread and cheese sand wiches, sliced chicken (from Sunday's dinner), celery tips, nut and apple salad (in a glass bottle), piece of chocolate cuke and an orange. Tuesday. (Graham bread and cream cheese . sandwiches, clam broth lu a vacuum bottle, olives, sweet crackers, figs and nn orange. Wednesday. Cold roast beef sand wiches (made of rolls), cabbage salad (in bottle), dates, n piece of cake and an npple. Thursday. Deviled moat sandwiches, baked apple or apple sauce (In bottle), salted or fresh peanuts, cookies, milk chocolate and nn orange. Friday. Kgg sandwiches (made from yolks), stuffed, eggs (using one of the fillings suguested previously), chicken broth In the vncuuin bottle, cracker tarts and an apple. Potato Pancakes. For Jhree potatoes weighing about a hnlf pound each allow two or throe eggs, one-half cupful of milk, one .level teaspnonful of salt anil. If neces sary, a very little Amir. Take the whiles of twenty eggs, two gobletfuls of flour, three of pulverized BUgar, two tea'spnonfuls of extract of lemou and one of cream of tartar Sift the flour carefully, mix the sugar, eggs and lemon thoroughly ami stir In Hi;4 flour gradually, taking care not to toughen it by too muc h heating. Sift togeiher four cllpfuls of flour, four heaping teaspoonfuls baking pow der, half cupful sugar. teapoonful salt, one cupful cIi.iihmI walnuts, one cupful rnlslns. one egg. well beaten, and two cupfuls milk. Mix well to gether and put In buttered pan and allow to stnnd twenty minutes. Bke In moderate oven forty-flve minutes. Serve In thin slices with butter. Molasses Cake. Mix In order given, one fopfo! of .hntter nnd the same of sugar, two rupfuls of .molaase.
