Among those in attendance at the funeral were many local prlntem who surrounded the bier and paid their last respects to one of their craft. Mrs. Itlchard Williams this morn ing received a letter from Mrs. Rick ey, formerly matron at the offices of l)rn. Seely, Hether. Stewart & Smlck, to the effect that she Is now located at Gold Peach, where her husband Is engaged in the hardware business. Rrown and Deputy Sheriff Fred Stew art spent the day at Camas Valley where they took considerable testi mony in the case recently filed against Orville Thrush, who Is accus ed or stealing $550 from his rather, Abraham Thrush. The officers made the trip by, automobile, and will re turn here late this evening. Through the friends of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Linbarge--, who have for several months been visiting at their old home In Missouri, and who in tended to return several weeks ago, we learn that they have been de tained by the sickness and death of Mr. Llnebarger's father. This is Mr. Linebarger's first visit back to his old home since leaving there five years ago, and he got there just In time to see his father. P. H. Harth, of Portland, who has been spending a few days with friends In this city, left last evening for home. A J. D. Zurcher spent the morning at Riddle looking after business In terests. Mrs. Edward Singleton, Mrs. Ro land Agee. Mrs. S. M. Kelly. Mrs. H. Roadman and daughter, Ella. James Ellison and wife, and Mrs. Carroll were among those who went to Wil bur this afternoon to attend the fun eral of the lat Hardin Davis. X. A. Collaomre is today packing his household goods preparatory to shipping them to Portland where he will make his future home. Mr. Col lamore as made his headquarters In Roseburg for several years, and re grets to leave this vicinity. While employed In digging a ditch early today, A. Hall, a well known resident of Roseburg was caught in a cave-in and quite badly bruised. Dr. E. B. Stewart was called following the accident and dressed the Injur ies.' Although suffering considerable pain, Mr. Hall will probably recover rapidly. Arthur West has filed a suit tn the circuit court against William Thlel, in which the plaintiff seeks to recover the sum of $755, alleged to be due on four promissory notes. Other than the principal plaintiff al so asks for interest together with at torney fees In the sum of $100. In order to assure payment of the judgment, plaintirf requests an order authorizing the foreclosure of a cer tain mortgage executed by the de fendant In favor of the plaintiff. Congressman W. C. Hawley will arrive here this evening from points In Coos county and will spend to morrow in Roseburg and vicinity conferring wit lithe voters. Mr. Haw ley is a candidate for re-eelction and is at present visiting the different localities of his district In order that he may become acquainted with con ditions. Little Dorothea Abraham left for Portland this afternoon where she will spend a few days visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Mack. G. W. Riddle and wife have re turned from Riddle where they spent the past two weeks. Mr. Riddle re cently harvested his prunes, and as usual he had an excellent crop. The Wilson Club will hold a reg ular meeting at the city hall this evening, at which time a number of Important matters pertaining to the campaign will be discussed. V. F. Thomas has returned from points In Coos county where he en joyed his annual vacation. Mr. Thomas is employed by the Commer cial Abstract Company and Is well known In this city. Perry Edgar and Sam Bayless, of Myrtle Creek, today forwarded W. W. Cardwell a "big stick", upon which is written the following words, "With the endorsement of the Bull Moose party." Bayless resides at Myrtle Creek, and according to his friends, has been promised the first deputyship under Marshal Fenton in the event the latter is elected sheriff of Douglas county.
