That our municipal affairs are In competent hands there Is no doubt, as all of our officers are men good and true. The new concrete building of B. S. Rodcllffe Is completed. Contractor Hardy finished his work and with his wife returned to their home at Medford. Sheriff Qulne Bpent Monday In this city visiting old friends and making few ones. All seem to appreciate the fact that be Is a diligent and capable officer who will succeed him self as sheriff. Hon. J. A. Buchanan was a Glen dale caller Wednesday. James Thomas, of Anchor, who has done so much toward Improving the roads on upper Cow Creek, passed through Glendale enroute . to the county seat this week. John Belcher, wife and son, of Anchor, have rented their fine farm near Anchor to Thomas Brothers, and returned to their former home In Washington. Martin, a native of Douglas county, lately of Monterey, Cal., is visiting his sisters, Mrs. Roberts Miller and Mrs. Kate Slocum, In this city after an absence of 28 years. H. D. South Douglas, "the Italy of Ore gon," is budding and blossoming with spring-time beauty, balmy sun nshiny days with warm breezes evi dence our fine climate, and general prosperity, along all lines of trade are aparent to all. The sad news was received In this city on Monday of the, death of George Sherman, son of Luther Llt tlefalr at Junction City, that morn ing. Mr. and Mrs. Sherman left our city less than a month ago, hoping the change might be beneficial to him. They own a home and other property In this city, and are among our most estimable citizens. The bereaved wife and children have the sympathy of our entire community In their great bereavement. Mrs. Worley, postmistress at Fern vale, had the misfortune to fall and break her arm on Monday. We have a good sheriff who has passed the test and Is ap proved, and generally our county has prospered. May a great wave of prosperity be our portion during coming year. Grant Levena, of Booth, spent one day last In Glendale on official busi ness. He is one of our popular of ficials and good citizens. Charles Stuerhoff, superintendent of the Union Leader, mines, was In the city one day laBt week. He re ports much activity at the mines, where they are Just Installing some new machinery. Mra. F. N. Wilson, of this city Is visiting at the home of her son, S. A. Wilson, at Medford.
