II KItU'S SOM K i:a.m I l,V. Couple At Webster City, luna, Ham 01 Children. WEBSTER CITY, iowa. Feb. 7. When It comes to Rooseveltian fam ilies Mr. and Mrs. J. Benliam, of this city, have a claim to unusuul consid eration, not only In Iowa, but In the United States as well. In this re markable family there are fifty-one children. The Benhams are an aged couple and lrfe over the Salvation Army headq..rters on Seneca street. Not all these fifty-one children are their own, however. Here Is the way the record is made up: j Mrs. Benham has been married threimes. When she married her ! first VLband he already had been marriflve times and had twenty-1 five c.uiflren. Two were born of their union, making a total of twen-I ty-seven children. When Mrs. Benham married a sec ond time she married a man with sixteen children, bringing the total up to forty-three. Six were born of this union, making forty-nine. Her' third husband, Mr. Benham, had no children, but to Mr. and Mrs. Ben ham were born two little ones, mak- ' Ing the grand total of fifty-one, of whom Mrs. Benham herself Is the ac tual mother of but ten. ! One hun dred and twenty-five thousand dol tars U the estimate made of the cost of the primary and general election for the state by officials of the sec retary of Btate's office. There are 1082 precincts iu the state and It Is estimated that the expenditures for clerks and Judges will be $77,902. At the last election It cost the state $1, 638 for the corrupt practices act pamphlets for the primary election aud $4,436 for the general election, and $18,425 for the Initiative and referendum pamphlets. It Is estimat ed that the cost will be just as much, if not greater, for the coming elec tion. The cost of the ballots Is plac ed between $15,000 and $20,000. For! pencils and sundries the cost last i year was $.",00 and for tally books $5,000. In view of these figures In the past and that new precincts have been created and the state has grown, it Is stimated the cost, at the lowest figure-, will be $125,000. TO IMPROVE ESTATE.
