Dr. E. V.-Hoover was the attending isurgeon. The patient is said to be resting easy this morning with excellent chances of recovery. Monte Zachray, of Myrtle Creek was arrested by Marshal. Huff man late Saturday afternoon while in an Intoxicated condition. He was re manded to the city jail where he re mained until yesterday morning when be posted ball in the sum of $tf and was released. He failed to appear in the recorder's court at the appointed hour this morning and his bond was forfeited. G. W. Wilson, an old and highly respected resident of Melrose, died at his home yesterday morning of heart trouble. He was 70 years of age and has resided in Douglas county for a long time. AsJde from a wife he Is survived by several chil dren. The funeral was held at the Oregon Soldiers' Home this nfter ii no n , In te rm en t following in the Home ceme.-ry. The deceased was a member of the G. A. R., and was finite well known in Roseburg and vicinity. Mrs. E. H. Curtis, of Oakland, Cal.; Mrs. Moclne, or Hllo, Hawaiian Islands, and Mrs. Nichols, of Riddle, arrived In Roseburg this afternoon to spend a few days visiting at the borne of Judge and Mrs. J. C. Fuller ton, In West Roseburg. Mrs. Mocine formerly lived at Gardiner where her husband was employed as engineer In one of the mills. For the past few years he has bad charge of the water and light system at Hilo and Is more than pleased with his situation. Mrs. Mocine expects to leave for tho for eign clime In a few weeks, or at least 'is soon as she concludes her visit In this city. She Is a sister of Mr. Full erton.
