About 10:30 o'clock four automobiles containing the Oakland band boys, drove into town, and assembling before the Huntington drug store, proceeded to entertain the people or Drain with some' splendid music. The Drain band played several pieces with them, and then served them with a lunch, after which tne Oakland boys went on their way rejoicing. W'e hope they will come again. W. E. Robb closed his work with the Christian church, of this place, lapt Lord's day, and leavies in a few days for Aberdeen, Wash., where he is in the employ of .1. K. An adjuster of the Horticultural Fire Relief Company of Oiegou, with headquarters at Snlem, a.'iived here last evening and this morning pre sented Horace Marsters, owner of the Grand hotel, with a check covering the damage to that structure as a re sult of the recent fire which destroy ed Taylor Brothers' paint shop, Mr. Mnrsters says that the Horticultural ''Ire Relief Company is the first to have a representative on the ground much to the credit of James H Prultt, the local agent. At a special meeting of the Board of Fire Commissioners and the chief of the Roseburg Eire Department held last night, lire escapes were or dered Installed on the following buildings: McClatlen hotel, two es capes; Van Houten hotel, one cape: Harrington hotel, one escape; Masonic Temple, one escape. The owners of the several buildings are given thirty days within which to comply with the order. Sheriff George Qulne and Deputy Sheriff Sam Starmer returned here last night after a day spent In the vicinity of Comstock searching for the two highwaymen who' are accus ed f holding up and robbing J. B. Hearleet. of Koseburg, of about 125 Mr. Bearteet Is a retired Christian minister and resides at the corner of Eullerton and Houck streets. He was enroute from Roseburg to Al buny when tho hold up occurred. At tne time the sheriff arrived at Com stock H blood hound was taken to the scene of the robbery, but. failed to pick up a scent.
