I). It. Shambrook and wife, who
have been spending the past three
months at points in California and
Arizona, returned here last evening.
They report .1 unit's New land, who
is now in California, much improv
ed in health. He will probably be
able to return home in the near fu
ture. Rodriries, the "hiker", who is
walking from Tort land to Medford
on a wager posted by the ICvening
Telegram, of Portland, arrived here
shortly after one o'clock this after
noon, and a short time later proceed
ed on his way south. Kodrigries
says that he encountered some hor
rible roads between Cottage Grove
and this city, and consequently was
unable to make his usual time. The
automobile carrying a special repre
sentative of the Telegram, and u
photographer, did not arrive until
some time after the arrival of the
"hiker", - presumably on account of
frequent delays caused from the had
condition of the roads. Kodrigries
expects to reach Medford by Tues
day, when ho will deliver the mes
sage written by Mayor Simon, of
Portland, to Mayor Cannon, of the
Southern town. Upon his arrive! here
he was greeted by a large crowd, and
was the center of attraction during
his brief sojourn.
