Meeting OiIKhI for Next Siiti.rriuy tit lAHiking CiltiHS. LOOKING OLASS. Ore.. May 30 On next Sattirduy evening the farmers, iheir wives and the young ladies and gentlemen if IvookiiiK Glass Valley will mett ut the resi dence of Thomas Oilvant to orfciuiine a Grange. The Grnnse la for the mutual benefit of all farmers and their rami Hps and doea uot conflict with any of their political or reli gious duties. It Is strictly a moral and social order. It does not ad vocate the form inn of co-operative stores and does not reqnjve its mem bers to poo or hold grain, or any other farm product for higher prices, unless it Is their desire to do so. Where they have co-operative stoies men invest capital for lutorest, the same as In any other enterprise, and they cannot buy goods there on any better terniB than elsewhere. Then a man cannot manage a store well unless he belongs to the Retailers' Association and that association is opposed to the Parctes Post Dill and the Grange Is In fnvor of that bill. The Grange does not lev any assess ments on Its members. One of the main principals of the Grange Is to patronize home industries, provided the home dealers pay them cash for their products, if they don't then the Grange finds a market where they do pay cash, because they cannot pay taxes or buy the good wife an East ern bonnet without the cash. Money is the medium of exchange lit all up-to-date cities, and those who try to trade with the farmers after he has gone Into the Grange will loose the farmers' Interest, It Is danger ous for merchants In one city to let the farmers "get acquainted" with the merchants of other cities, but the Grnnge teaches its members to find out who will pay them cash for their products. The farmer who belonn to the Grange 'don't have to take off his hat to any one except the ladies. T. h. Lee, of Looking Glnss Is a Deputy State Master of the Oregon State Grange and Is authorized to organize Granges anywhere In Doug las county, and If any district wantn a grange organized all they have to do Is to call a meeting In their district and write to Mr. Lee and he will come and address the farmers and organize their Grnnge and give them all necessary Instructions and supplies, and also tell them how to get the cash for all farm products. Get busy and organize. X. X. X. NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS.
