Stevens, In charge of the sur veyors working on the Coob conuty j end of the survey for the Coos Bay i and Boise railroad, today moved his bcadtiuurters from Coquille to Marsh field and Is now completing the final J -tretch of the work. His crew Is . -iw as far as the divide between Coos Bay and the Coquille valley, which is about ten miles from Marshfield. The crew will work out of here until the survey Is completed. While no official announcement has been made, it Is the general un derstanding that the survey will not be completed to within a couple of miles of the bay until definite ar rangements have been made for ter minal facilities.. There are two ter minals now under consideration. On6 1b said to come in by way of Llbby and strikes the flatB south of Marsh field and the other Is to come down iBthmus or Catching Inlet and make the terminals on EastBide. Chief Eimlneer Haines is at Rose burg with President Clarke, where they are completing some of the pre liminary work. The surveyors have completed the survey Into that city and now all that remains to be done there Is to check up the work. It Is expected that will be accomplished soon and Chief Engineer Haines will return here to complete terminal ar rangements, etc., here. Progress on the bonus subscription canvasB is making good progress and no difficulty is anticipated in secur ing the balance of the $150,000 re quired. Coos Bay limes. S. P. CO. MUST HUSTLE. Hut Coos Boy People Will Offer No Molluscs. The statement from Chief Engi neer Hood that the Drain branch of the Southern Pacific is to be built, has cauBed no excitement. The peo ple aro no longer looking forward to that as the only show for Tailroad communication with the outBlde. The prospect for the Coos Bay & Idaho line is looking so good that tho Inter est In the construction of the Drain line Is at low ebb. Furthermore no 4 per cent guarantee on $5,000,000 has been made, nor will it be offered. If tho Southern Pacific wants a share of the business of this section it will have to get In.
