Raley, a prominent Democratic politician from Pendleton, is registered at the Umatilla House. II. D. Youn?, the well-known Popu list statesman of Goldendale, is regis tered at the Uinalila House. C. W. Moore, the well-known Trout Lake dairyman, is at the Umatilla House accompanied by Mrs. Moore. J. II. Templeton, a prominent drug gist of Prineville, ia at the Umatilla House on his way to Portland on busi ness. Mrs. Theodore Liebe and Mrs. F. Botefuhr, of Portland, who have been visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Gen. A. I.iebe for the last few days, returned home on the noon passenger today. Colonel and Mrs. Fred Butterfield, old-time friends of Mr. and Mrs. Smith French of this city, after spen ling the past three days here, left on the Dalles City this morning for Portland on their way home to Vermont. The Seven O'clock Club, which had arranged for the pleasant ceremonial to take place next Thursday evening at the Lakeside Club, has changed the date of the dinner to May 5th. Admiral Dewey will leave town on the evening of the 4th and Colonel Bryan can reign supreme at the ban quet. The officers of the Seven O'clock Club have little to say concerning the sudden change of plans except that Mr. Bryan, the guest of honor, could not ar range to be in lown May 1st. London, April 26 The Times has the following from a special correspondent, dated Mafeting, Basutoland, April 25: "I rode from Jammerebnrg here, skirting Wepener, and I met General Brabant's advance guard four miles south of Wepener. They report three Wade, of j successful rights Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday, with tweuty-two casualties. The siege was raised, and 5000 of the enemy retired along the Ladybrand road aithin our sight and unpursued. ! Colcnel Dalgety'a casualties are 33 killed and 132 wounded."
