Ô Ï0 L ■ « fc -w s * .. C O M M E N T ON TH O R E A U I really liked this chapter! It seems that I have had many feelings he tells about. I think it is because I was raised in a wild country. Ever since I can re member, I ’ve known the woods and rivers and ponds by my place. His love for Nature moves me! W hat he says is that solitude is not loneliness. I know that is true. I have been gone from home for a while and I realize I have nearly forgotten the beauty o f Nature. I have lost some thing... Some day 1 want it back. Karen B. M aybe if we all looked upon one another And began to understand there would be no confusion 1 need time alone whenever I have a tough decision to make or when I'm de pressed. W hen I spend tim e by myself, it helps me relax and just kick back and think. I also like to day dream. W hen ever I get tired o f all the chaos going on around me, 1 just disappear into my own space and thoughts. A lot of people like to be around crowds of people all the tim e. I feel that these people then be come what others want them to be, rather than what they themselves want to be. Sometimes tho, even when I am around people, I am still alone, that is alone in my thoughts. Everyone needs tim e alone at one time or another, iust to enjoy the company of themselves < I ’ve had a lot of hard times in my life. In one way, life is like a ball game. You have to decide whether you’ll keep the ball, pass it on, or whatever. In anything that happens, you first have to decide what you need to do about it, and then, with patience and courage, work it through. W .C .G . M aybe, i f we could correct the fault that lies within us, things would have less power to make us restless and full of discontent Even today Black Elk speaks and his voice is as clear as his visions........ Emmy C.B. .'a d * -Val ud I hate drinking because 1 end up pulling stupid stunts, and i t ’s very embarrassing. I like to be alone sometimes. Then I can think my life over and get things straight. Sometimes I just can’t stand the pressure my parents and other people put on me. ! I like to be outside on a really warm day, maybe take a long walk just to check everything out, walking by a river, seeing the fish and frogs, or maybe snails in some small pool near by. .__ by M . WhiteGrass It really puts a dent in my air supply when I run after a joint or a smoke-out. * I ’m the second to the oldest and the most spoiled, but my mom says she is proud of all of us; because, since we lost our dad in 1970, we help her all we can. except for her, 1 wouldn’t even be in school. I ’d rather be home helping her, but she wants me to get an education and make something of myself, and also to make my people proud. I ’® Trying N .S .E . I do it because my friends do it
