This great event happened February 10,1976. The flag is now part of Chemawa’s history. Acquired by Superintendent Ed Lonefight, it is here to stay and show our Bicentennial spirit. The flag will also be used on Chemawa’s 100th birthday and during our tri centennial. Here along with our history making 13 stars and 13 stripes flag are Hazel Noyes, Debbie Jane, Sharon Wilson, and Mike Gomez. Chemawa has the unique position of being both the first Valley high school and the first Oregon high school to fly an authentic Bicenten nial flag. We would like all of our parents and friends of Chemawa to help us. Write to your Senators and Congressmen. If we all work together, there will always be a Chemawa for our child re n and our children’s children. Chemawa is a part of our Indian heritage. We cannot let it go.
