2 Chemawa American E d ito ria l S e c tio n Cups Are Not a Decoration Students, you all have probably seen our lawns covered with cups from the dining hall. No, they are not there for decoration. Students have been taking the cups containing coffee, punch, and milk out of the dining hall. After taking the cups out the students finish their beverage and dispose of the cups on the lawn outs me of tne dining hall, or take them to the dorm. The dining hall personnel or emp loyees have to go outside the din ing hall and to the dorms to collect the cups. If they don’t, we won’t have anything to drink out of. Having to go out and pick up cups and drinking glasses creates more work for the employees of the dining hall. The employees of the dining hall go out after every meal to col lect the cups, and bring them back to the dining hall and wash them. All of the dining hall personnel, would appreciate very much if the students would stop taking cups from the dining hall. Students Should Stop Skipping Why do students skip classes? We asked a few people who were skipping at the time and this is what some of them said. One student said, “ I don’t like that teacher.” “ Nothing to do in 'th ere,” another complained. “I don’t want to go to class half shot,” said a third. A fourth said, “ I don’t feel like going to c la ss.” We interviewed the last Chemawa Mickey Appeen Did anyone hear about the bold mouse who broke into the PE staff- room in the gym? Well, it was caught in the act of taking a few bites from the basketball team’s sack lunches after the Cascade- Chemawa game. It was reported that the entire basketball team, plus Mr. Lippy and Mrs. Papenfus, gave chase to the mischievous rodent. It was appre hended around 10:35 pm and charged with robbery. Another mouse was seen in Unit One of Mitchell Hall running from room to room looking for something to eat, and it finally did in Room 4. The tennants of Room 4 gave chase, but Mickey was too swift for them. Yet another mouse was spotted in Room 24 of Mitchell Hall, but the fearsome mouse-catchers there were in a rather lazy mood and did not give chase. If any other members of the Mouse Gang are spotted on cam pus, the American would like to know about it. storekeeper and asked him a few questions about how many students skip in the store area. He said that around three students skipped there regularly, usually the same three. We asked him if be knew why they skipped. He answered that he ask ed them why and the only answer he got were, “ Too boring,” or “ I’m not learning anything, so why should I go?” or “ I don’t like that c la s s .” Every school has at least a few problems with some of the students attending. We at Chemawa have a few too, and this is one of them.
