The Music Department at Chemawa
Indian School presented its sixth annual
Christmas Concert on December 18, 1969,
in the school auditorium.
The “ A” Band, under the direction of
Mr. Jeffrey Earnest, played such numbers
as “ Hail the Conquering Hero” and
“ Songs of the Sea” . Mr. Eldon Wolfe
directed the Girls Glee Club as they sang
several numbers, including the Ukranian
Carol, “ Carol of the B ells” and the
American folk song, “ All Night, All Day” .
“ The Night Before Christmas” was
one of the many beautiful Christmas
Carols presented by the Choral Ensemble.
Others they sang were “ Come, Singing
Noel” , Rise Up Shepherd and Follow” ,
and the Austrian Carol “ Still, Still, Still” .
Music of still other countries was
featured when the “ A” Choir sang “ Afri
can Noel” , a folk song from Liberia,
“ Kolyada” , a song of the Russian people,
and “ Pat-A-Pam” , a Burgundian Carol.
“ B” Band performed well on the tra
ditional English song “ What Child Is
This” . They also played the beautiful
“ Sherry Lyn” .
The choral groups were accompanied by
Mr. Earnest, piano; George Williams and
Clifford Jim, drums.
The program was very enjoyable and the
people who performed did a very excellent
job in providing some happiness and cheer
for the holiday season.
W HO'S CORLISS ARCHER?
Rehearsals are now a common thing for
members of the cast of “ Meet Corliss
Archer” , a comedy being produced by the
Stagedoor Tremblers.
The play is the story of a young girl
who gets herself into a very humorous
situation. To liven up her too prosaic
diary, Corliss Archer has been writing in
some imaginary incidents. Her very pro
per parents are shown as having fights
and her nice boy friend, Dexter, as a
juvenille delinquent. Prim cousin Agnes
gets ahold of Corliss’ fake diary—and
believes it is true! She is sure Mr. Archer
is a dangerous drunk and when Mrs. Archer
comes in with her hand to her face (she
has a slight toothache), cousin Agnes
