VOLUME 60 CHEMAWA, OREGON, JANUARY 1, 1964 Number 2 CHRISTMAS PROGRAM PRESENTED Honor Students Mark First Semester Under the direction of Mrs. Ella Baker, music teacher, and Rev. Wil liam Stevens, an inspiring Nativity Pageant was presented December 24. The cast was: Raymond Black- goat, Thecla Wasuli, Effie Curley, John Ahngasuk, Phillip Henry, Mar garet Bereskin, Florence Mitchell, Jimmy Lewis, Wallace Johnson, and Ronald Smoke. In charge of lighting and stage were Mr. Sipes, Joseph Cleaver, Anderson Tullie, Tommy Wheeler. Mrs. Julia Evans and Linda Golo- gergen were the accompansits. Those in the boys quartette were: James Jackson, Mark Hiratsuka, George Kudrin, and Hudson Sam. Jane Griest, Jane Lind, Grace One, Diane Shorty, Roseline Andrews, Marie Chigoyuk, Elizabeth Cholok and Mae Hawley composed the girls octette. Jane Lind Eighty-two students won a place bn the honor roll for the first se mester. Topping the list was Mark Hiratsuka with a perfect record of 4.00. Seventh grade honor roll stu dents were: Louise Crane, Stanley Dehiya, Susie Go a t so n , Susan Grandson, Frances Kakoona, George Manygoats, Lydia Marshall, John Sharkey, Gladys Wells and Ella Yazzie. In addition to their high scholar ship many of the honor ¿students have also been active in Student Council, unit leaders, athletics, Pep Club and music. The Staff cangrat- ulates you! PEP CLUB— CHEERLEADERS WIN TROPHY December1 12, 13, 14 the Mac Claren Holiday Basketball Tourna: ment was held. Teams competing were: Colton, Detroit, Jefferson, MacClaren, Perrydale, Valsetz, and Portland Christian. The Chemawa basketball team won 3rd place,, aft er a hard fight with, Colton, Mac Claren arid Jefferson. The cheer leaders and Pep Club attended all games with the team. The competition among the pep groups was strong. The judges chose Chemawa as the winner of the first place trophy. The beautiful trophy, was presented to captain Marian Amos after the final game of the evening. Cheriiawa will keep the trophy. The judging was based on sports manship, enthusiasm and interest, dress, presentation, originality and variety of yells. Alice Zonnie Tears mingle with cheers as cheer leaders receive trophy.
