HOME LIVING WINONA HALL Girls of Winona and McBride are happy that Miss Challis has return ed to be our adviser once again. Welcome Miss Challis! The girls have been co-operating in the heat and light saving pro gram. When they leave for school each morning, every radiator and light is turned off. The girls of Winona enjoyed the Senior Christmas program which consisted of a Christmas eve play, singing and a poem read by Anna Mae Sharp called "The Soldier in Korea Version of the Night Before Christmas." Eleanor Foster was in charge of the program and did the announcing. After the program, treats and gifts were distributed and Santa Claus visited us. Over the Christmas holiday Viola and Violet Lane and Delma Gird were visitors. It is always nice to see former students again. Winona hall girls are grateful to Miss Challis for the pretty card and money she sent us for our Christmas present. We got a new picture and a lamp for the living room with the money and they are so pretty that all the girls are enjoying them. Mrs. Lane has returned to the boys building. We surely enjoyed her stay with us and hope that she can come again. Mary Lane in charge and Mable Bedoni are competing for this month's Unit award—may the best unit win! The 10B girls have switched with the 10 A girls in the kitchen. Good luck 10B. — Oh, those early morning calls!! The girls are already cleaning the dormitory and rooms with the idea of having the best room for Open House which is always on Feb. 22. Gladys Helion and Nancy Butler have returned after being called home because of illness in the fam ily. Mrs. Sharman and Mrs. Hauser have left to be with their husbands. The new employees we welcome in their places are Mrs. Sword in Home £c and Mrs. Martha Maurean in the dining hall. To welcome Miss Challis back to Chemawa, the girls had a reception for her on Sunday night. We had a program at 7:00 put on by Units I, II, and VIII. There were plays, skits, Indian dances and a very entertain ing program. After the program, punch and cookies were served in the candle-lighted dinette. Other in vited guests were Mrs. Brannon, Miss Runyan, Miss Koske, and Mrs. Howard who were in the reception line to meet and greet all Winona girls. Eleanor Foster was the host ess for the evening. It was very nice.—Nancy Butler and Christine Millett, reporters for Winona hall. M c B ride hall We are all happy to have Miss Challis back with us and we hope that she doesn't have to be called back again. When Miss Challis went away to help care for her sis ter we all missed her and wished she would come back and work here and I guess our prayers were an swered. For Christmas McBride received a lot of games and toys for the little girls. The older girls got records for dancing and we all enjoy them. For our play room we got new lamp shades and one new lamp. We had a lot of visitors at Christmas. Mr. LaVatta thought our dear old Santa was very nice. We are always Interior—Chemawa School. Chemawa. Oregon The program we had was about health.
