THANKS TO THE JOURNAL Last week the Oregon Journal of Portland ran editorials calling atten tion to the students at Chemawa who would be without gifts at Christ mas unless kindhearted people came to the rescue. As a result of these editorials Girl Scouts of Portland and the Lions Clubs of Portland and Sa lem, as well as various individuals, have responded generously and now all the children will receive gifts at the Chemawa Christmas trees. We are indeed grateful to the Journal for the kind deed and kind words. A KIND DEED We send greetings and thanks to Mr. John S. Kunkle for the five dol lars which he gave to the small children's Christmas fund. Mr. Kunkle retired as plumbing instructor here a few years ago and now lives near Salem. He always had a soft place in his heart for the little ones and still thinks of them, especially at this time of the year. 'Twas the night before Christmas And all through the house Not a creature was stirring Not even a mouse. When out in the night We heard a clear call, “Hi Ho Silver! The chimney's too small!" ELIMINATION TOURNAMENT Our wish for you, Wherever you are: The joy of the Shepherds, The peace of Star.
