8 THE CHEMAWA AMERICAN Class Prophecy What is in store for the Class of 1945? Let’s call out the old science of astrology and so look at the stars. The years ahead are eventful and interesting. The first scene reveals a low rambling ranch in Oregon. Fine horses and cattle are grazing about the place. Who is the boss? Why, Betty Chocktoot. People are talking a great deal about a new broad caster for NBC. A lady of some talent has made quite an impression. It is Helen Hayes, who graduated from college and become interested in radio. Lawrence Patrick we see escorting some guests about his famous “dude ranch.” It is deserving of its good name for Lawrence gives it a lot of atten tion. During the evenings they dance to the music of his well-known dance band, “Ham” and his trombone. Ah! Here is a prediction for Doryce Collins. She has become an important secretary in a business firm and probabilities are that she will own a part interest soon. Montana comes into view. Is that Pauline Wil kinson we see in this lovely home? It surely is. Pauline graduated from college while what’s-his- name was still away, but now he is home. Montana again. This time it is a big ranch and farm with all the trimmings. This farmer has every thing, including a lovely wife. We may guess the wife by now, for we see the farmer is Glenn Fritz- ler. Glenn is a man of considerable influence in his part of the country. Over there by the Big Dipper is a prediction for Raymond Bennett. He has become quite a club man and has a good position with Elks. He has made several trips as their representative. Venus sparkles with light and we see Mary Lucy Andrew moving happily about her home in Wed- derburn, Oregon, getting her children off to school. Girls Practice Track Since the girls have been running on the track, high jumping, hurdling, and doing practically what ever the boys do, there is a general demand: “Give us more!” From four to five on Mondays and Thur- days girls can try out the pits and track to their hearts’content. In the future we hope moie girls will discover what fun it is to indulge in this form of recreation. Come on out girls. You will be glad vou did. Well, Well! Here is Marceil Tom directing a group of girls. She is the girls adviser at Chemawa, Oregon. Cassiopeia shows us starry-eyed Lillie Frye at her place on the Oregon Coast. Lillie is happily married and she and her husband run a tourist court. Why this is Daisy Pete! She is now manager for her famous brother, Pug, of Madison Square Gar den fame. She supervises his diet, training, and arranges for all his matches. The stars predict a ship for Geneva Alex. There she is in white uniform, a ship’s nurse in trans- Atlantic travel. Another nurse? Yes, indeed. It is Cleo Picard who is now superior nurse in a large hospital She has made an out-standing record. Here’s a star that indicates Hollywood. Oh see! It is for Yvonne Ghangraw who has become a well- known designer there. Her hobby of art was made into a real vocation. Here comes LeRoy Gill out of his office. LcRoy graduated from college and is now in a chief clerk’s position in an Indian agency. Another familiar figure follows. Could it be, yes it is Clyde Bobb. He is superintendent of the agen cy, and doing a good job. What is this we see? A news photographer and journalist is the work predicted for Virginia Wil kinson. She has had some interesting trips in for eign lands. This galaxy predicts that Mabel Thompson will be a beloved public nurse and will live in Pendle ton, Oregon. What’s this? Ethel Blake has just jumped into the sea of matrimony after several successful career years as a teacher in Northern California. Jupiter comes into view. Something looks inter esting. A football squad is listening intently to Coach Bill Yallup give one of his famous pep talks. Neon lights blaze above a familiar name: “Anita’s Restaurant, Famous For Fine Foods.” Yes, it is our Anita Grunlose doing a good business in Yakima. Bonelie St. Goddard? Oh, She is operating a snap py little "drive-in” somewhere in Montana. Her husband is a cooperative partner. ► T-Sgt. George Quintasket of Nespelem, Washing ton, visited Chemawa May 8. George has seen ser vice in France, Beligum and Germany. He wears the Purple Heart, two clusters, and the Silver Star. He was a popular student here, before joining the Army in 1941.
