Summary of Sport Activities Chemawa Chiefs Wallop Sandy Chemavva walloped Sandy Hi 40 to 24 in a one sided affair that was sparked with some very thrill ing plays last Friday night in the Chemawa gym. Even though the warriors were behind the first quarter, they came out the second quarter and took the lead the rest of the way. As the half time ended, the score showed that the warriors had taken the lead. The second half was more of a one-sided affair with the warriors being in possession of the ball most of the time. As the game ended, the score was 40 to 24 in favor of the Chemawa warriors. Chemawa “Flops" Salem The Chemawa Indians, “grappling squad” won over the Salem Viks 35-27, February 5. Capt. Stanford Beaudry won a fall over his man in about 40 seconds. Arnold Davis and Cecil Of- field both won by falls. Davis “floped” his man in about one minute and 15 seconds. Wm. “Strangler” Langely pinned his man in one minute and 30 sec onds. Other “Chiefs” who added “scalps” to the tally were Champine, Jackson, and Honena, who drew there matches. Summers, Spencer, Dunbar, Snaps, McKinney and "Scout Murphy all put up a good fight against their opponents. The evening’s matches were "Highlighted” by Bing "Babyface” Tyler’s fall over "Killer” McKracken. The match was full of falls and holds. Though "Bing” only weighed 197 pounds, he pinned his 212 pound adversary in both second and third periods of the match. Corbett Out Gallops Braves The Chemawa braves bowed to Corbett in a hard fought game played in the Corbett gym January 30. The first half ended showing the Chiefs on the short end of an 18 to 0 score. In the second half the Chemawans came within two points only to have Corbett take full command again in the closing two minutes. The final score was 40 to 26. High scor ing honors for Chemawa went to Youngman with 9 points. In the preliminary the Papooses paced by "Little” Teton with 10 points took an easy win of 27 to 16. Chiefs Down the Mollala Buckaroos A durable Chemawa quintet dumped the Mollala Buckaroos 38 to 33 in a very thrilling last quarter finish at Mollala last Friday night. From the start the Buckaroos took the lead, but the Chiefs stayed right behind them. As the half ended, Chemawa was ahead by 14-12. Once more as the third quarter was on its way, the Buckaroos took the lead again and they were a- head until the final quarter, when the Chiefs made 10 points in a minute and a half. There the Chiefs showed their ability in handling the ball and hitting the bucket from all angles. Redskins Scalp Silverton Foxes The Redskins defeated the Silver Foxes on the home floor, Friday night, 27-26. Unable to hit the hoop with a great deal of ac curacy, the Silver Foxes fell victims to the more ac curate shooting Chemawa Redskins. The game started out with a bang, when Silver- ton took full control of the first quarter by leading Chemawa 11-1. It looked like a one way trip, but the Redskins found their shooting eyes before the half ended, and found them trailing at a short end of a 12 to 8 margin. Two Grapplers Reppresent Salem Y. Two boys were chosen from the Chemawa grap pling squad to represent the Y.M.C.A. at Portland January 25. Offield pinned his man to win the match for the Salem Y. Beaudry did not fare so well and was de- cisioned after six minutes of grappling. Did you know that.... "Pete,” is Syb’s favorite actor. Mount and Paul have taken over the names "Ma” and "Pa” in the senior play. Tony says "Must see Annie tonight.” Alex says, he’s from Mexico, I wonder why? Ha vard can you tell us? "Manny” Carson was heard saying, “These Wo men!” A certain senior boy is in the running for one of the "Jones Girls.” Slo-Jo is better know as "Blow,” in the senior hall. All class presidents are from Western Washington. Our team’s favorite slogan is "Remembah Pearl Habah.” The dramatic’s class is ready to don their cos tumes and present two outstanding plays of the year for your entertainment. You can "Dine and Dance ” and even have your table "Reserved” at the dinner which the "mighty seniors” will be giving soon. Edwin Teton has a liking for bow ties.
