HOME ROOM T ongue R iver : This Homeroom group had several members of their tribe visiting H o m e- room each morning during the conference. The main topics of study recently has been of cattle raising and improvement of agriculture. Plans are being made to build a large dam on the Tongue River reservation near Busby, Montana. K lamath : President Elnathan Davis recent ly received a letter from Supt. B.G. Courtright of Klamath Agency saying that he wished to have it known that information was sent to the Homeroom. (We printed the opposite in the preceding “American”). On the reservation a military school for Indians is being sought. T ahola : Improvements within the last five years on the Tahola reservation are being stud ied. They are taking tests twice a week on dai ry farming, vegetables, canned foods, and the income per person annually. An oral quizz is taken every Friday. G rand R onde : To this group Mr. Larsen sug gested that a study of the history of southern Oregon rather than the natural resources. He also left some valuable information about the history of southern Oregon, how the Grand Ronde reservation was started and a few other items of interest. S iletz : New officers were electd. The new pre sident is Ethel Armstrong and the new secretary is Sybil Wood. Mr. Larsen and Mr. Showalter were recent visitors of the Homeroom. Open dis cussions were made on the Reservation Survey. C row H omeroom : These students are study ing and reviewing information received from the Crow reservation for the examinanions. They also wrote home for more information. Miss Florence from the Tongue River reservation visited the Homeroom during the conference. T ulalip 2: With the leadership of our new Chairman, Chester Paul, this group has had many discussions on why the Homeroom should be valu able to them. Mrs. Stubbs from the Tulalip Ind ian Agency visited the homeroom and told of the ways of making a living on the reservation. A laska : The Alaska Hoomroom has written a letter to the Juneau office, at Juneau, Alaska, to obtain some information that will be of help to the homeroom. They are going to draw an other map of Southwestern Alaska. T ulalip 1: This group has been following the same routine for the last two weeks. All information received is written on the blackboard to be studied or copied. -------- Y-------- Local News On February 23, the grade school entertained at chapel with a splendid program. The numbers presented were based on a patriotic theme—Geo rge Washington’s Birthday. Children from the first to the sixth grades participated in the pro gram. Several poems and songs were given, which deserve much praise. The several dances on colo nial times, presented by the second grade, were very enjoyable. Gertrude Hall says that since she can’t get a schoolboy, she’ll try for a “C.C.C.”___ They say that “Dutchie” and “Sandy” are still “thatway” privately____ We notice that Edith Sisson has been a perfectly good little girl lately.___ “Spring fever” hit Chemawa early this year, among the patients are Ralph Wells and Christine Will iams, Esther Miles, Grace Berger, and a certain Junior boy: Naomi Thornton and Berger of McNary hall; the “Burds”; George Rice and Ethel Jean. Theda Ashue and Berger have the symptom of spring fever, but official re ports are not available on how serious they are. Lulu Frye and Tommy have been troubled with it all winter, and Frankie and Nema have also. Be careful or you will be the next victim! Tedjake has been “baptized” with new name “Honey ducks”____ “Moony” Hall is Mrs. “Hootch”-WANT AD Shilo wants his “Boots” back____ Overheard in exclu sive (?) night club—Gilbert Desautel ordering “Clam shadow”, and “Buster” Lodge ordering “ice-cleam.” Melvin Woundedeye went for a fine toboggan ride on the gym floor recently____ Two “tiny girls” in Winona hall are Marie Mount and Viola Redelk, according to latest reports____ Juanita Pablo has been discussing ser ious (?) problems about the future____ The big-game hunters of Winona hall, Room 39, under the leadership of “Major” Jones, have caught many “ferocious” mice. Nellie Walters is just “sailing along” in her little canoe. Marge Skalian seems to own a battleship, for she has a marvelous collection of the “U.S.S. California” station ery____ Joe Hayward is our latest “Campus Boy”____ Doris Ingawanup is wearing a darling diamond for a specific reason____ “Curly” Davis, “Moon” Douthit and “Reddy”Sams making comeback?-----Old shoes beware! June Simmons trying to make it on Clifford McMeel.
