This was the first benefit dance of the year, and it proved to be very successful. For entertainment during intermission several students from Chemawa were presented in a pro gram. The most applauded of course was George Comenote and his guitar. Esther Frank also was a feature singer of the evening. Besides the en tertainment, refreshments were served through out the evening. The dance was planned by the councils to raise funds for the purpose of having the pictures of the officers taken and put into the annual. Freshm an In itia tio n The Freshmen were initiated October 5th, by the Winona House Council and the McNary Hall Boys’ Officers. Under the leadership of Mr. Rickard, these officers met at Winona Hall to make the rules and regulations, which we-re later approved by Mr. Showalter. At the meeting the wearing apparel of the Freshmen was decided upon and what they were required to do during the days of initiation, Saturday and Sunday. The Freshmen were to obey upper classmen at all times and the Freshmen girls were not supposed to talk with the upper class boys nor were the boys to talk with the upper class girls. Penalties were to be settled in Moose Court at the end of the initiation on Sunday evening. At the dance, Saturday night, given by the House Councils, the Freshmen who went were free to change to dress cloths and were unmo lested by the upper classmen. -------- V-------- TH E LUNCH-CART man was an e d i t o r .
