Chemauia Skin Dragons
A pril 29—In a W V I league encounter the Chiefs slammed in
an 8 to 3 win w ith the Indians and the Dragons knotting the
count until the sixth. Coach G astineau’s club broke the tie in
the sixth, scoring once, and then scoring the other two in the
seventh and eighth.
Both the Chiefs and the Dragons scored twice in the first
frame on three hits and knotting the game at three all. James
was the big sticker for the Braves, ham m ering a double and two
bingelsin five trips.

Indian- Viking Split Header
A pril 23rd on O linger field the H aukm en and the Jerrym en
broke even with the preppers w inning the first and the Indians
the second. “ Bang” went Ko Ko Y ada’s bat and the Indians
had their feathers plucked by a four to one count. But pitcher
Backbone handcuffed the V iking batsman in the nightcap, h u rl­
ing four hit ball that applied an eight to nothing sku n k in g of
the Salem preppers.
Y ada slammed a Centerfield triple w ith the bases loaded in
the eighth to give the V ikings their first victory in five games.
Backbone had the vikings on his hip all the way in the n ig h t­
cap while the Chiefs put 13 hits and some messy V iking field
w ork together for an easy win.
Bulldogs Defeat Indians
A pril 24th—T he W oodburn Bulldogs poled a five to two win
for their third straight in the W V I. T he Bulldogs were outhit
eleven to eight, but H anauska, W oodburn hurler kept th e bing-
les well scattered until they nicked him for two along w ith a
brace of errors in the eighth which produced the tw o runs for
th e Indians. W oodburn scored in the second, th ird , fourth,
fifth and once in the eight. T he Indians scored th eir two runs
in the eight on a pair of errors w ith James of Chemawa doing
th e heavy artillery work.

Richardson. Maroons rightfielder, was the heavy sticker of
the game hittin g a double and a home run. F o r the Indians,
V an P elt poled three for four and No rton got a brace of d o u ­
bles. T he invaders scored once in the th ird and eighth and two
in each of the third , sixth and seventh innings. All was tallied
off of Scalpcane who was relieved by Plentyhoops in th e eighth.
T he Braves scored one in each of the second, th ird , six th
and twice in the fifth.
Beaverton Noses Out Indian Scantclads
A pril 25—A t the N ight Relays held at Vancouver, W ash­
ington, the Redtnen, even though taking four firsts and one
second, were nosed out by Beaverton who won by a 42 to 41
squeeze. T he scantclads of T eppe Town won four firsts in the
sp rint and distant medleys and placed second in one because
Lodge and T rack collided on the change, spilling Lodge, who
after regaining his feet could not quite overcome the lead but
m anaged to place second.
T he six w arriors led by Chief Track, were Lodge, Bazil,
Shilo, Saluskin, Plentyhoops and Adam Bearcub.
Woodburn Cindermen Beat Braves
A pril 26th—W oodburn’s Bulldog track team won their
fourth straight meet on their home field beating th e Redmen
68 to 56. Lodge of Chemawa was high point man gathering
in three firsts and one second for 18.
W oodburn made the relay .3 of a second less than the league
record w hich had been held by the Chemawa team composed
of Lodge, Bazil, T rack, and Saluskin, at 1.36.6. T h e new re­
cord by W oodburn being 1.36.3.
