After many practice sessions Coach Jerry
Gatsineau placed these as his 1938-39 squads:
Melvin Woundedeye, Frank Backbone, Henry
Scalpcane, Roy Track, Tony Shoulderblade,
Chico Norton, Everett Oatman, Alfred Smith,
Orville Danzuka, and Arthur Van Pelt as his
first ten.
The Pappooses are represented by Lodge,
Weeks, Hall, Fallsdown, Bearchum, Laroque,
Bazil, Simmons, Whitford,and Whiteclay.
Gastineau’s hoopers opened the basketball
season by roundly trouncing the Mt. Angel
quint by the score of 43-25. The Pappooses also
romped to a 25-7 victory. Backbone was the
high point man by hemping 20 points and Lod­
ge tallied 16 markers for the Pappooses.
