C a r p e n t e r —T h e boys in th is shop are glad to
see th e W . P . A, start dem olishing Mr. D avis’s
form er residence, as th a t is th e location for the
shop project house for th is school year, and of
course they, are anxious to get started on it.
A fter m aking tw enty or more w aste baskets for
various buildings, we hope th e dem ands for these
will let up a little.
Six new book cases are now in process of con­
struction.
W e hope to have th e new cottage, made last
term , ready for occupancy in the near futu re.
O ur tw o Crows, Backbone, and Fallsdow n are
doing m uch to fill th e places of some of our boys
who were m ainstays last year.

board stretcher in a very capable m anner
P a in t S hop —T his departm ent has carried on
for two weeks w ith the instructor, Mr. Saunders
absent. T h e boys are doing all w ork necessary
on th e school cam pus; the grade school had one
floor sanded and varnished, and a nother floor has
ju st been finished.
T h e p ainters have painted the new ‘Eye Clinic
R oom ’ w ith an apricot color for the walls, and
ivory coloring for th e ceiling. T h e radiators were
painted silver. T h e job has recently been com ­
pleted
T h e new group of boys have been stain in g and
v arn ish in g w aste paper baskets for W inona hall
and McBride hall.

and his brigade are busy as usual, cooking the
meals for the students.

enal. It is hard to single out the scholar of the

B a k er y — T his departm ent has jiist received
464 sacks of flour, w hich is expected to last all ‘
year.
“ C hico” N orton is no longer worki-ng here, but
Oi"ville D anzuka and H ardin Simmons fill his
stogies up pretty good; both are expert floor scru b ­
bers.
A uto S h o p — R aym ond A ndrew s is converting a
Chevrolet coach body in to a pick-up w hich is to
be used for general all around purpose. H e e x ­
pects to com plete his job by the first part of nex t
w eek.T he new boys are now having classes in
specialize lubrication.
C l o t h in g —A ll classes spent th eir first m onth
m aking clothes for th e younger girls in M cBride
hall, and have com pleted about 75 garm ents.
T h e production sew ing girls have kept busy
doing the m ending for all buildings, and in ad ­
dition have m ade about 800 sheets, 650 pillow
cases, 1,000 pullm an towels, and 50 pairs of cu r­
tains since school began.
F oods —T h e cooking classes have com pleted
th e ir canning, and are now studying breakfasts
and luncheons.
H ome M a n a g em en t — T h e Senior girls in
H om e M anagem ent have been canning foods for
use in the Practice Cottage, and are now review!
ing the u n it in child care in preparation for a tw o
weeks experience living in McBride hall, and
helping w ith the younger children. E ach Seniof
girl will live four weeks in the Practice Cottage,
and two weeks in McBride hall.

of good health habits, good housekeeping, and
the ability to live happily w ith others.
T he class in Home R elations has been discuss­
ing the home from the standpoint of w hat is nec­
essary for its success. They had th eir first joint
discussion w ith the boys’ class T uesday, O ctp^er
18, to discuss the topic “ W h at m akes a Satism t?
