P age 4 T he CHEMAWA AMERICAN CHEMAWA WINS PRE-SEASON GAMES Chemawa wins opener. In a game, Dec. 7th, the “A” team beat the Jeffer son team, 34-18 at Jefferson. LaBreche scored the highest with 12 points and Dave “Shawnee” Archam- beau was second with 6 points. The “B” team won its game handily, but the girls didn’t fare so well, losing by the score of 24-13. Redskins win second practice game. In the return game of last Saturday the local quin tet practiced plays and signals, thereby, beating Jeffer son again to the nice score of 29-6. The game was played on the home floor. The newly organized midget team cavorted and romped around the floor until the score-board showed the tally 43 to 9. The statistics showed the high point men to be Oscar ‘ ‘Holy” Moses, Taylor Arthur and Vernon Jackson. The girls with a complete reversal of form defeated the Jefferson girls 39-12. Gervais’s hopes for victory vetoed 41-6. Our varsity boys beat a lesser Gervais team 40-6. P. LaBreche was the highest scorer with 12 points. The “B” team won its game against the Gervais “B” team with ease Monday night as they scored 41 points to the opponents 12. Four men on the local second string tied for scoring honors with 6 points apiece. The printers and commercial boys and the barbers and bakers played a return game Monday night. The printers losing by the top heavy score of 28-5. In the inter-shop league the teams undefeated have dwindled down to three remaining teams. Salem, here. SENIOR NOTES Fred Harris, one of our prominent classmates, grad uated last week upon completing his barbering course. We extend our sincere hopes for his successful appli ance of the trade. Sam Shoulderblade, that stalwart Indian athlete, is our latest addition to our class. He hailed from his “happy hunting grounds” just a few days ago. We are proud to note that several seniors have ap plied to enter colleges next fall. Individual pictures are being taken for the annual and a number of seniors have already had theirs taken. Why not the rest of you? Gertie Adams and Sam Scott are in charge and will gladly help you if you turn in your measly 25 cents. THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT? What is the Christmas spirit? It is the spirit which brings a smile to the lips and tenderness to the heart; it is the spirit which warms one into friendship with all the world, which serves one to hold out the hand of fellowship to every man and woman, to every boy and girl. For the Christmas motto is “Peace on earth, good will to men, ’ ’ and the spirit of Christmas demands that it ring our hearts and find expression in kindly acts and loving words. A man there was and he had a friend (Even as you and I), And he tried to think of a wish to send, Original “stuph” with a subtle trend, The kind that a highbrow might have penned (Even as you and I). But the man was stripped of his foolish pride (Even as you and I).
