This being the initial game for the Braves, they were a trifle ragged in gen eral field work and as a result the game was close, the score being 4-3 for Chemawa. John Spencer, pitcher; Wallace Zundle, catcher; John Blacketer, 1st base; Gale Bobb, 2nd base; Ben Palmer, 3rd base; Harry Wilder, shortstop; Pressley LaBreche, left field; Roy Barr, center field and Lawrence Bennett, right field, was the lineup. As far as batting was concerned the Redmen redeemed such errors as they may have made in fielding, as almost every player got a hit. Gervais Takes Return Game Friday, March 23, Chemawa ball-tossers played a return game with Gervais at Gervais. Lawrence Ben nett, an untried twirler, did a fine job of pitching, giving only five hits but the eight errors made by his teammates enabled Gervais to score. The Redskins registered 10 hits to their opponents’ 5 but had 8 errors chalked against them to Gervais’ 3. The final score was 5-2 in favor of Gervais. Coach “jerry” Meachem states that he is on the lookout for two outfielders who do not use rubber gloves. BASKETBALL Girls’ Basketball Tourney Ended The girls’ basketball tournament ended March 22, when the sophomores took the measure of the seniors in a closely fought contest. After trailing behind by one or two points the sophomores sank the winning baskets in a last minute rally. The score read 23-22. In a preliminary the lowly freshmen scalped the juniors 23-18.
