Ryan of Che mawa gave the main talk at the weekly luncheon of the Salem Chamber of Commerce, of which organiza tion he was recently made a member. He told of the var ious phases of the work carried on here preparing Indi an youth for competent and active participation in the industrial world. He aroused a great deal of interest when he told of the script plan we have had in operation throughout the current year. The girls’ sextet sang and made a fine impression with their sweet music. Mrs. Turney played the accompaniments. Miss Judd introduced the girls. Harold Berrys contributed a vocal solo and was well received. Mrs. Ryan and Miss Roddy were also in the Chemawa party. L. C. LOCKMAN, NEW PHYSICIAN Dr. L. C. Lockman arrived at Chemawa on January 31 to assume charge of the school hospital and direct the health work of the institution. With him were Mrs. Lockman and daughter, Louise, and a son, Doug las. We welcome these fine people to the “Happy Family.’’ Doctor Lockman entered the Indian service at the Ft. Belknap agency in Montana in 1926, remaining there for five years. Two years ago he was transferred to the Yakima agency in Washington were he worked until his transfer to Chemawa. The doctor and his family are living in the cottage recently vacated by Dr. Sisco and Mr. Fisher.
