Jo h n H anson, A lex P etellin, E arl D onnelly and H erschel Crim all proved m asters of th e ir opponents rig h t off the reel and had little difficulty in p in n in g th eir o p p o n en ts’ shoulders to the carpet. By keeping th eir men on the defense from th e sta rt and clam ping never-failing holds on them they m ade sh o rt w ork of th e ir job, p in n in g their m en to the m at in from tw o to five m inute periods. T h o u g h T itu s Sam uels and G uy S cott were not as successful as th eir team m ates, they proved too m uch for th e ir opponents to handle. E ach of th e two w res tled to a draw in the first bout and won the second by a fall. Only the referee’s decision gave the th ird bout to the F rosh for having a slight edge on aggressiveness. T h e condition of our bone-crushers show ed th a t they have w orked-out reg u la rly and have trained faithfully. T h e pep and determ ination w ith w hich they entered the m atch alw ays wins. E xcelsior T h e E xcelsior L iterary Society held th eir m eeting last F riday evening in th e L aboratory. T h e house was called to order and the secretary called the roll; each m em ber answ ered w ith a q u o ta tio n . T he house was th en open for old and new business after w hich a sh o rt but in terestin g voluntary program was given by the m em bers. Before a d jo u rn m ent, M r. Ross, our visitor for the evening, gave us an en co u rag in g and helpful talk . W e ended w ith the usual songs and yells. A short v o luntary In d ia n program was rendered and w ent off w ith th e usual W inona sp irit and “ p e p .” Mr. and M rs. H all and Miss R oberts were our visi tors. W e had the satisfaction of listen in g to little helpful talk s. A fter a short hurried business program we a d jo u rn ed. R eliance T h e m eeting of the R eliance L iterary Society took place on F rid ay evening, M arch 9, in Room 8. T h e m inu tes of th e last m eeting were read and accepted. W e then proceeded with our old and new business. A few discussions w ere b ro u g h t up and dispensed w ith. A d jo u rn m en t followed for the election of officers, A T H L E T IC N O TES T h e girls enjoyed m ore than a successful season, h aving lost but two gam es; the second one to the state cham pions by the slig h t m argin of one point. T h e follow ing, who have played in a sufficient am ount of gam es, will also be aw arded th e ir letter on “ Jo lly -u p ” day: M adeline W ilder, Rose D ow nie, G race M orrigeau, M aude Potts, M aude H aey, Cora Black, Daisy B allard and Cecilia S m ith. A fter closing a m ost successful season our varsity basketball men handed in their suits late last week to rest u n til an o th er year.
