Miss R oberts very k in d ly presented each m em ber
of the class w ith a b eau tifu l bouquet.
M iss Alice C halcraft of Siletz has been th e g u est of
C hem aw a friends d u rin g the past week.
M rs. R isser was the train e r and director of th e oper­
etta. M rs. T u rn e y had charge of th e m usic.
N ever has Chem aw a tu rn e d out m ore gorgeous and
beautiful costum es th a n th o se used in the operetta.
N o th in g in th e n o rth w est, it is said, can equal the
th e vocational display given at Chem aw a th e past w eek.
T h e com petitive m ilitary d rills and parades d u rin g
th e week were far su p erio r to any held here before.
Mr. B e n t’s 150 girls gave a faultless exhibition of
various gym nastic exercises. T h e boys also did fine.
School will com m ence p rom ptly on M onday, S ep­
tem ber 12, 1921. E verybody be on h an d it will
everv line of activity.
A splendid body of stu d e n ts
have taken advantage of th e o p p o rtu n ities offered.
O ur stu d e n ts have already had straw berries from
o u r own patch th is year.

G ordon H ob u ck et of th e g ra d u a tin g class of 1908
cam e dow n from T ah o la h , W a sh ., to attend our com ­
m encem ent exercises. G ordon now’ holds a clerkship
in the Service.
T h e beautiful decorations of th e stage and a u d ito r­
ium d u rin g the week w ere m ade by Miss E a rlo u g h e r,
Miss F ee and Miss A hrens. M rs. Iliff, our p rincipal,
w as in evidence everyw here.
O ur jo lly -u p was sp len d id . M r. D ow nie’s speech
aroused the utm ost enthusiasm and M r. Eockley
clinched th e good w ork. T h e prizes aw arded w ere
of good q uality and th e recipients earned them .
T h e dresses displayed by ou r girls in the F ashion
Show , sandw iched in th e o peretta, were superb. N o
one act called forth greater applause or in terest.

th ey w ork for d u rin g th e o u tin g season. It is worse
th an useless to “ blow in ” all the money you work for
