Coach W arn er w ent to P ortland last week and drove
his car down from there.

T h e vocational boys in th e tailor shop are kept very
busy m ak in g up corduroys for th e sm all boys.
T h e eig h th grade pupils w ere glad to get back to the
dom estic science and take up their w ork again.

levers for dem o n stratio n w ork in th e class room .
R obert Jam es, after a long absence from C hem aw a,
has retu rn ed to school and he is gladly w elcom ed.

Miss R oberts leave and wish her lu ck in her new w ork.
T h e second year vocational girls in dom estic science
are ta k in g u p the com position and food values of
m eats.
W ord has been received from M ontana th a t Sarah
B lodgett, an e x -stu d e n t, passed away last W ednesday
afternoon.
Elizalxrth R einville, V eltha F razier, M yra R auzi and
Mae A dam s are appointed to assist Miss Skipton in the
kitchen cooking for th e football squad.
T h e second football team are all glad to see H en ry
Cam pbell on th e field again. H en ry h u rt his arm and
w as absent from practice for th ree or four days.
On th e re tu rn of th e S u p erin ten d en t from P o rtlan d
last T h u rsd a y , he b ro u g h t eighteen new rolls of m usic
for the player piano to be used at th e s tu d e n ts ’ socials.
A letter from E arl N uckolls, one of out form er s tu ­
dents who joined the M arine C orps about a m onth ago,
states th a t he is g ettin g along nicely and th a t there is
n o th in g like m arine life. H e is statio n ed at M are
Island, C alifornia.
A le tte r has been rceived from C harles E d er, e x ­
stu d e n t, who is stationed at one of th e naval train in g
sta tio n s in C alifornia, saying th at he is g e ttin g along
nicely. H e has visited R iverside School a couple of
tim es an d is favorably im pressed by th a t school.
T h e recen t reorganization of the eig h th g rad e resu lts

vice-president; Effie Davis, secretary-treasurer; G eorge

A force of boys is kept busy sw eeping u p leaves
about the cam pus.
E ast week, R obert Jones, an ex -stu d e n t, paid Che-
m aw a friends a visit.
On F rid ay the garden force finished d ig g in g a crop
3,000 bushels of potatoes.
Coach W arn er and fam ily took th e early car to P o rt­
land on W ednesday and retu rn ed in th e ir F o rd .
T h e b u rn in g of stu m p s and slashing on the 25-acre
strip of land n o rth of th e hog lot is in full blast.
C hem aw a is a busy place—everybody is k ept on th e
ju m p . T h e fellow who is n ’t on th e job m akes a slip
in th e cog.
T h e kitch en force is busy ca n n in g p u m p k in s these
days. It is plain th a t we will have pum pkin pies
galore this w inter.
Since th e arrival of Coach W arn er th e football squad
has experienced som e good, h ard, signal practice and
m any to u g h scrim m ages,
O n T h u rsd ay the athletic field had a th o ro u g h clean ­
in g . T h e cap tain s of each com pany started his men
across th e field and track an d they took all but the
grass and g ro u n d w ith them .
Ju p ite r P lu v iu s has w aited too long to cast show ers
upon th e ath letic field, according to the ideas of F ra n k
P eratrovich and G eorge N ix, so they rushed fire hose
N o .l to the gridiron on T h u rsd ay and gave it a th o r ­
ough sp rin k lin g ,
D r. Doney of W illam ette U niversity drove o u t in
his car on W ednesday evening to talk to th e stu d e n t
body on “ W a r Relief W o rk ,” b u t on account of a
m ishap in th e pow er house, sh u ttin g of th e lig h ts,
he was unable to give th e address. T h e stu d e n ts re ­
g re t it very m uch. T h ey alw ays enjoy h earin g th e
D octor talk.
W ade M inthorn retu rn ed to school on W ednesday
of last w eek. W ade is a live wire and can hold his
own w hen it com es to oratorical contests.
