G e r tru d e Todd gave her “ L egends of H ia w a th a ” in clear and d istin ct tones th a t could be heard in every p art of th e room . “ H ia w a th a ’s S a ilin g ” was given very creditably by H arriet L u to n . T h e society songs and yells were led by G race R ussell. M r. K ersh n er, offi cial visitor, was very well pleased w ith th e program . Reliance T h e R eliance L iterary Society sp e n t th e ir allotted h o u r in an earnest m eeting. Six am endm ents to th e co n stitu tio n w ere presented and adopted. T h e rest of th e ev en in g was given over to a p relim inary debate. O ur co n testan ts are busy and alert and will have the subject well in hand by December 8th. T h is card is from C hristiania, N orw ay. A letter has been received from David N athan, one of our old reliable five-mile ru n n ers. H e w rites from H y d ab u rg , A laska, and w ishes to be rem em bered to his H y d ab u rg friends as well as his old Chem aw a friends. P U P I L S ’ IT E M S A letter from Miss Dora L ecrone, a form er C he mawa teacher, states th a t she is teaching at U nga, A laska. U nga is the hom e of several of our pupils. T h e E xcelsiors were honored to have w ith us as visitors M rs. Brew er, M r. Sanders, M r. H ob u ck et, and Mr. H enry D arnell. T h ey gave us some very good advice. M r. Blessing has divided the engineers into two E nglish classes, so th a t the vocationals m ay receive th eir professional lessons apart from th e pre-voca- tional E n g lish . M r. S m ith is p lan n in g ano th er folk dance w hich will be for th ree classes— large, m edium and sm all pupils. H e expects th e program to be d u rin g the C hristm as holidavs.
