FROM TH E G R A D ES Seventh Grade Mr. Mitchell and his boys have torn down all the hedges which have been along the sides of the walks for many years. I think it has added much to the appearance of our school campus, The green grass is grow ing in place of the hedge and just looks beautiful. The sewing-room department has finished the every-day gingham dresses, and has started the percale commencement uniforms for the girls of McBride Hall. Sunday, May 3rd, Miss Brewer gave an interesting and instructive talk on popular songs. The carpenters are very busy making tables for the boys’ buildings and they are also making window screens to put in the dining-hall win dows. The funeral seivice of Paul Durks, aged nine years, was held in the Chemawa chapel. The remains were then removed to the Chemawa cemetery, where the burial service was read by Rev. Mr. Kennedy. He had been sick for some time and died of several different complications. Miss Skipton has improved the front of the dining-room by making more flowers gardens around her walks and her annual hop vine has be gun to creep up the side of the house. When the class that is now seventh grade are graduated they expect to make a reputation in several ways- Since the weather has changed the gardeners have been busy putting in early garden truck such as beans, peas, lettuce, onions and radishes, which will be used in the near future.
