The Sunday Schools of the Haysville district held their quarterly con­
vention at Chemawa on Sunday, March 29. Seventeen schools were
represented, and the attendance was unusually large for a district con­
vention. At the morning session the auditorium was filled and many
of the students could not be seated. The afternoon session was held in
the gymnasium. At noon the delegates enjoyed a basket dinner and
the Chemawa band gave a concert. The following addresses were given
in the forenoon:
“ Organized Classes,” by A. O. Davidson, Salem.
“ Secondary Department,” by Chas, Knowland, Salem.
“ Vision, Vigor and Victory,” by State Secretary Chas. Phipps, Port­
land.
After the business session in the afternoon, Louis Paul, of Chemawa,
spoke on the topic, “ Why. I go to Sunday School.” Rev. F. W. Em­
erson, of Albany, gave an address on “ Formation or Reformation.”
A solo by Mr. A. A. Schramm, of Salem; a solo by Miss Louise De-
schamp, and a duet by Miss Louise Deschamp and Felix Isadore, of
Chemawa, were special musical features.

Thursday, April 9th, was “ clean-up” day at Chemawa and everything
was rubbed and scrubbed until there was an evidence of polish on all
sides.
On the 7th of April Mr. Clardy left hurriedly for his old home in
Kentucky, on receiving intelligence of the very serious illness of his
mother.
On March 24th Chemawa was pleased to have as a guest Supt. Wat­
son of Klamath Agency. Supt. Watson reported all as going forward
nicely at the Agency.
Not long ago, Mr. Smith, who has charge of athletics at Chemawa,
did a lot of good work in the way of dragging and leveling the baseball
diamond and the track.
Not long ago we were pleased to be visited by Mr. Emil Hauser of
Siletz, who was accompanied by his brother, Peter, whose home is in
Oklahoma. Both of these men have been famous football stars in the
past and judging from present appearances they are still “ in it.” •
