Enterisinment a Erent ■PUBLIC INTEREST Coming Soon: Trivia Lover’s Treasure Hunt Something new to do in the Eu gene-Springfield area! Fun, excite ment and a $300 first prize! On Saturday, October 17, Lane County Direction Service, along with many Eugene-Springfield area busi nesses, presents the first annual Trivia Lover’s Treasure Hunt. Lane County Direction Service is a non profit referral and advocacy agency working with area families who have children with handicaps. All proceeds from this fund raiser will go directly to Lane County Direction Service. The Trivia Lover’s Treasure Hunt is a unique experience for local residents. Teams of up to four people each will pay an entry fee, receive a set of clues, solve the clues and report to the business or address named in the solved clue. There they will receive a stamp and signature on their score card, indicating that they did solve the clue correctly. In addition, the first team to arrive at any clue location will receive a “treasure” donated by that business. The team accumulating the most location stamps in the allotted time will receive a $300 cash first place prize. People interested in participating can pick up registration forms at any Knecht’s Auto Parts, Selco Credit Union, or Kinko’s. Registration forms and information also can be obtained by calling Lane County Direction Ser vice at 461-2212. Entry fees are listed at $28 per team for those teams who preregister by October 10, and $32 per team for those teams who wait until the day of the event to register. Teams will convene at the South Eugene High School parking lot on Saturday, October 17. Check-in and packet pick-up will occur between 11:30 am and 12:40 pm. Organizers will give final instructions at 12:45 pm, and team leaders will be given their team’s clues at 12:55 pm. All teams will receive the same clues. Teams must report back to the South Eugene High School parking lot by 4 pm or be disqualified from winning the grand prize. Area businesses have generously participated as sponsors or clue loca tions. Major sponsors, who provided the funding for advertising and cash prizes, include What’s Happening, Jean Tate, Knecht’s Auto Parts, Eu phoria Chocolate Company, The Eu gene Clinic, Selco Credit Union, Kinko’s, KZEL, Kestrel Cafe, Rax Restaurants, and Cappelli, Miles, Wiltz, Avery & Kelley Advertising. Numerous other area businesses have agreed to be clue locations. They will be recognized following the event. The Lane County Women’s Yellow Pages was sold to a Portland publisher, meaning that the next publication will be a statewide direc tory, reaching thousands of women in the state of Oregon. Printing a minimum of 100,000 copies, it will cover the areas of the Rogue Valley, Roseburg, Eugene/Springfield, Salem and Portland. 20,000 copies will be distributed in Eugene, without charge to bookstores, libraries, businesses, organizations, women’s centers, hotels/ motels, Chambers of Commerce and educational institutions. Wamen’s Yellow Pages reaches a powerful segment of the population. Three out of four business “start-ups” are by women. Women make 86 per cent of purchasing decisions. The new issue will be published in November; deadline is Friday, October 2.
