Still Alive by A. Porter I like the bull frogs WSYV chug-a-rumming in Amazon Ditch Down in the cattails where the mowing machine can’t reach. And the crickets singing to the moon like they’ve always done. And out west I like the fields — waste land they’re called — full of lupine and buttercups - Spreading glorious between flat buildings and fenced piles of rusting junk. I wish well to these, And to Indians, fleeing their destruction through parched night Jungles, and to us, who like passengers on the Titanic sit at sumptuous tables drunk on the wine of high ideas scarcely aware of the narrow passage that fast approaches.
