Gil, a full time potter for 12 years, has begun doing larger “decorator items,” and was recently commissioned by the Benson Hotel in Portland to create large ceramics for seven special suites. Virtually every major technique in the field will be represented in the show. Nationally prominent artists like Frank Boyden (raku), Geof frey Pagen (Reed College), Patrick Horsley, Tom and Elaine Coleman of Canby, Oregon will be present, in addition to other acclaimed ar tists. Marlene Gabel, Director of Contemporary Crafts Gallery of Port land, after traveling through much of the U.S., said, “It is always ex citing to return to Oregon where some of the most significant work in the ceramic world is being done.” She adds, “More and more the line between fine art and craft is disappearing, and this is evidenced in the individuality of Oregon potters. Many Northwest potters have been working in their field 12-20 years, and the quality and expertise in dicate the beginning of a golden period as master craftspeople perform their most exciting work.” The show is next Friday (11 am-9 pm) and Saturday (10 am-6 pm), April 29 and 30 at the Western Forestry Center, 4033 S.W.
