The Craft Center at the Uni
versity of Oregon includes a
woodshop, ceramic studio with
high fire capabilities, darkrooms
equipped for both black and white
and color printing, metal working
area equipped for jewlery casting
and soldering, as well as facilities for
silk screen, batik, stained
glass, laipdary and sewing. You
may join by registering for a class
and paying an additional $12/term
for membership. There is a growing
collection of handtools, craft books
and periodicals for use also. It is lo
cated in the Erb Memorial Union on
campus.

Amity Foundation, a Eugene-based
research and education organiza
tion, is launching a campaign to
raise $4,000 in matching funds for
a Department of Energy Grant to
print 1000 copies of its next book
“Gardening Under Cover.” The
book will give Pacific Northwest
residents who traditionally garden
only half of the year reliable home
gardening information. “Garden
ing Under Cover” will illustrate to
vegetable gardeners how to stretch
the growing season to 12 months
by using simple coverings. The
book will be available February of
1983.
A benefit dinner at the Keystone
Cafe, 395 W. 5th, Oct. 14, starting
at 5:30 pm will launch the cam
paign. A beer garden opens at 4:30
pm with the Solar Whale. No-Nuke
String Band, followed by a harvest
dinner featuring Country Style piz
za. fruit and vegetable salad bar and
soup. A complete dinner or a la
carte items will be on the menu.
