Travelin’ McCourys roll into Bend
The Travelin’ McCourys
will set fire to the stage with
their arsenal of burning blue-
grass on Monday, November
26, at 7:30 p.m. at the Tower
Theatre in Bend.
The performance is pre-
sented by the nonprofit
Tower Theatre Foundation
and promises to be overflow-
ing with inventive bluegrass
and stellar musicianship. The
McCoury brothers were born
into the tradition, and spent
many years on the road with
their legendary dad, Del.
However, The Travelin’
McCourys have never been
a band to limit themselves to
one genre. They’re always
looking for inspiration
beyond the banjo, and that’s
why Rolling Stone described
them as, “A sublime combi-
nation of rock and bluegrass,
contemporary and classic, old
and young.” This innovative
thinking has allowed them
collaborations with a host of
impressive names, including,
The Allman Brothers, Phish,

Council shelves
marijuana ordinance
Correspondent
On the advice of legal coun-
sel, the Sisters City Council
declined to consider adoption
of Ordinance #490 amending
the City’s Development Code
to authorize and adopt stan-
dards for marijuana-related
businesses and other changes.
Sisters voters defeated the
ballot measure that would
have approved the establish-
ment of marijuana-based busi-
nesses in the city. Therefore,
the Council concurred with
the attorneys, saying adopt-
ing the ordinance when voters
defeated the ballot measure

could appear contradictory
to the results of the vote and
possibly open the City up to
legal challenges from persons
wanting to open marijuana
businesses
If circumstances change
in the future, with the Federal
government making marijuana
legal, or the citizens of Sisters
requesting another vote on
allowing marijuana-related
businesses in town, the ordi-
nance could be resurrected
and the text amendments
instituted.
The original ordinance was
drafted ahead of the ballot
measure to be in place if the
measure passed.
