Wednesday, October 24, 2018 The Nugget Newspaper, Sisters, Oregon Obituary Outlaws post soccer win Gary Paul Basin By Rongi Yost Correspondent The Outlaws have strug- gled with injury and illness all season long, but rallied to post a 5-0 home victory over the visiting Sweet Home Huskies on Thursday, October 18. Two days earlier they fell 0-4 on the road in a battle against Stayton. Sisters struck first in Thursday’s home contest against the Huskies. Colby Simeral broke loose on the right side and punched one in at the 25-minute mark to give the Outlaws a 1-0 edge. A few minutes later, Sisters scored again when Simeral attempted to cross the ball, and a Husky defender cleared it into the goal. Connor Linn booted one in for the Outlaws approximately five minutes later. Connor dribbled past a defender and finished with a goal to the right side. Sam Mayes fin- ished the first half scoring on a breakaway with five min- utes left on the clock, and the PHOTO BY JERRY BALDOCK The Outlaws notched a shutout victory over the Huskies last week. Outlaws went up 4-0. Simeral scored Sisters’ goal in the second half. The Outlaws did have many great looks and opportunities in the final half, but just couldn’t get any more into the back of the net. Senior Asher Bachtold said, “It was amazing to see everyone getting minutes on the field. It made me so happy 7 that we were all cheering each other on, and that everyone was smiling. That’s what soc- cer is all about.” Gary Paul Basin returned to his Lord in the afternoon of Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the age of 68. Gary was born in B r o o k l y n , N e w Yo r k . His family moved to Los Angeles soon afterwards. Gary eventually moved to Salem and Camp Sherman and spent the best years of his adult life with his life partner Teli, who passed in November 2017. Gary loved his family and friends. He is survived by his son, Ben; daughter, Jennifer; beloved grandchildren, Colin, Samantha, and Zairq; sister, Tammy; brother, Matt; and, of course, his labs, Sadie and River.
