Wednesday, August 22, 2018 The Nugget Newspaper, Sisters, Oregon SAA Fourth Friday Art Stroll and Outdoor Show By Helen Schmidling Correspondent Summer is winding down, so take the opportunity to visit the galleries of Sisters during the Fourth Friday Art Stroll Aug. 24, from 4 to 7 p.m. Come enjoy an evening with local artist Dan Rickards at Clearwater Gallery. Dan is a nationally and regionally cel- ebrated professional landscape artist. Painting full-time since 1991, he is best known for his acrylic landscapes and wild- life scenes. Currently in the midst of a National Park paint- ing project, he is capturing our nation’s treasures and collect- ing stories along the way. Hood Avenue Art features Central Oregon landscape paintings by Kathleen Keli- her and the handmade charm of Kelley Salber’s miniature, themed bookshelves, boxes, A sculpture by Mark and Robin Winfree at Hood Avenue Art. and book constructions. Enjoy live music by Victor Johnson and refreshments. Then, Mark and Robin Winfree-Andrews of Eugene will exhibit carved sculpture on the lawn next to Hood Avenue Art on Saturday, August 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, August 26, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.. Knitting and knotting by Sharyl McCulloch is featured at Gary Cooley’s Collection Gallery. After many years of knitting, Sharyl has added hand-woven pieces to her col- orful collection. B e a c h a m ’s Clock Company has invited SuZ Morrow, an impressionist nat- uralist painter, to be their fea- tured artist. She paints nature in surrealistic, impressionis- tic and abstract forms. Light, color, design, movement and emotional connection form the basis of each piece, whether it’s ocean, desert, forest, city, SuZ Morrow’s art will be featured at Beacham’s Clock Company. wildlife, or historic landmark. This collection of art quilts celebrates the stunning, complex, and attractive world in which we live. Starting with those things that cause one to pause, ponder, and appreci- ate – a dilapidated building, a flower, a crumbling wall, a village in Italy, graffiti, or a beautiful piece of fabric – each piece evolves to its frui- tion from abstract to realistic, colorful, high contrast and richly textured. The show runs through September 25. Sisters Gallery & Frame Shop will feature spar- kling fused-glass jewelry by Laurie SantaMaria, and new scratch art by Jennifer Hartwig, including a special wolf series she’s creating for the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center, a wolf res- cue and education sanctuary, www.wolfeducation.org. Other galleries open this month include Ken Scott’s Imagination Gallery, Grizzly Ridge Upcycle, Studio Redfield, Nature’s Bling, The Jewel and Dyrk Godby Gallery. Raven Makes Gallery will not be open for this stroll ONLY; Chris and LaRita will be back on board after August, with two shows in September: September 7 to 9, with Terresa White, Yu’pik sculptor and mask maker; and September 28 to 30, the Hopi Women’s Show, with renowned art- ists: jeweler Sonwai, (Verma Nequatewa,) Earth pigments painter Pesavensi, (Donna Humetewa) and potter Dorothy Ami.
