Earlier on Easter morn- ing, Sisters-Camp Sherman and Cloverdale fire depart- ment volunteers divided the park up into four areas by age from infant to 11, scatter- ing the brightly colored eggs for the annual Sisters Easter egg-stravaganza. At exactly 1 p.m. the sound of the siren from a Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire Department truck marked the start of the Easter egg hunt. Hundreds of children charged through Creekside Park. Within a few short min- utes, they cleared the area of all 6,000 eggs. Some eggs were marked SPRD taps Garrett as executive director Sisters trumpets swan arrival Sisters Park & Recreation District has a new executive director. The Sisters Park & Recreation District board of directors announced that Todd Garrett has been cho- sen for the post until recently held by Liam Hughes, who has moved on to a position in Pendleton. According to Sisters Park & Recreation District Board Chair Bob Keefer, “We had three excellent candidates but Todd’s deep and diverse experience in the field of rec- reation caused him to rise to the top of our list.” Todd is the former direc- tor of the fairgrounds in Missoula County, Montana, where he facilitated the development of a master plan in conjunction with a citizen advisory committee and brought new activities such as a ranch rodeo to the fairgrounds. Prior to that, Garrett was responsible for public recre- ation access for the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Park Department as well as act- ing as an ex-officio game warden. He also served as the recreation coordina- tor and interim director of the City of Whitefish Parks and Recreation Department. Garrett holds a bachelor’s degree in recreation manage- ment from the University of Montana. Aspen Lakes near Sisters, in cooperation with The Trumpeter Swan Society (TTSS), Oregon Department o f F i s h a n d Wi l d l i f e (ODFW), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFW), and benevolent members of the Aspen Lakes home- owners, is about to become involved in an exciting wild- life project. There are only three trum- peter swans in the breed- ing program in Oregon, and of these, only one now has a mate.
