Sisters Arts Association Fourth Friday Art Stroll
By Helen Schmidling
Correspondent
It’s three days before
Christmas and all through the
town, folks are visiting galler-
ies, up street and down! It’s
the monthly Fourth Friday Art
Stroll through the galleries of
Sisters, from 4 to 7 p.m. on
Friday, December 22.
At Hood Avenue Art, it’s
“Holiday Magic,” as gallery
artists exhibit handcrafted,
original fine art. Drop by for
refreshments and live music.
Simon Haycraft is an art-
ist and a fisherman. He’s fas-
cinated with lakes and rivers
and the creatures that inhabit
them. His portraits of fish look
real, like they are swimming
in water. But, surprise, they
are made of wood! Haycraft
has been experimenting with
wood as both a canvas and
an integral part of his subject
matter. See his work at Gary
Cooley’s Collection Gallery.
Clearwater Gallery artists
are ringing in the season with
the annual “Red Bow” sale.
Give the gift of art, timeless
and priceless. Gallery is open
from 4 to 6:30 p.m. with wine
and light appetizers.
Sisters Coffee is doing a
happy hour featuring pottery
by Laura Campbell of Sisters.
Sisters Gallery & Frame
Shop is aglow with Kimry
Jelen’s colorful work, and-
Jennifer Hartwig will be
demonstrating scratch-
board. Shop for last minute
Christmas gifts including pot-
tery, jewelry, and knitted hats.
December’s Cascade A&E
features a story on Ken Scott
by reporter Dave Clewett. Pick
up a copy and talk to Scott at
the Imagination Gallery, and
browse through paintings,
glasswork and handcrafted
jewelry by guest artists.
Studio Redfield has new
paintings by Randy Redfield
and hand-painted ceramic tiles
by Kibak Tile, open until 6:30
p.m. with light refreshments.
Delight a loved one with
art or jewelry handcrafted by
Native American and Inuit art-
ists. Turquoise, one of the ear-
liest gems ever worked into
jewelry, is December’s birth-
stone. Few jewelers inlay this
stone better than Navajo Dee
Nez, featured at Raven Makes
Gallery. Enjoy hot cocoa at
their fire pit.
