22 Wednesday, December 20, 2017 The Nugget Newspaper, Sisters, Oregon SPRD: District will ask voters for 15-cent local option Bend jail worker accused of having sex with inmate Continued from page 3 BEND (AP) — A 44-year- old Central Oregon woman who worked at the Deschutes County Jail is facing charges after authorities say she had sex with an inmate and brought in tobacco. The Bulletin reports that April Ann Hoisington-Kite of Bend was charged Friday with two counts of custodial sexual misconduct and sup- plying contraband. Hoisington-Kite has not been allowed back in the jail since being cited and released November 1. Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. William Bailey says Hoisington-Kite was a contract employee working through a company called Aramark. Bailey says Hoisington- Kite met the inmate in the kitchen area. Hoisington-Kite is sched- uled to appear in Deschutes County Circuit Court on Wednesday. Glory Daze Car Show; the Sisters Folk Festival and Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show would also benefit from con- tinued and expanded support from SPRD. Over $270,000 of deferred maintenance would be addressed and the retainment of experienced staff would also continue with the passing of the new levy, according to the board of directors. Should the vote pass, pro- gram fees for all participants would be reduced and pro- vide a 50 percent cut in after- school program fees. Families who may need financial assis- tance to participate would also benefit from lowered costs. If the levy should fail, maintenance would remain postponed, program fees would increase, and some programs would likely be eliminated, the board reports. The proposed levy will be announced early next year, and local Sisters residents will have the opportunity to vote for the local option in May 2018. The proposed tax levy would span five years and take effect on July 1, 2019.
