Wednesday, December 6, 2017 The Nugget Newspaper, Sisters, Oregon Sisters youth want to give Christmas trees A Christmas tree is one of the joyful symbols of the sea- son. A decorated tree in the corner makes a house a festive home during the Christmas season. The Christmas tree tradi- tion as we know it started in 16th century Germany, when devout believers brought evergreens into their homes as symbols of the season. Local youths are looking to help their fellow Sisters cit- izens enjoy the beauty of the season with donated trees. The students of Vast Church would like to gift those in need with a free Christmas tree. Call Jared Vogt to sched- ule delivery at 503-949-9719. The F ly Fisher’s P lace The Fly Fisher’s Place serves up gadgets, flies and equipment that will please any angler on your Christmas list — from kids to adults, men and women, at all levels of skill and experience. It’s not all about the gear, though. If you have a fisher-person in your family, they will find joy in a gift certificate for one of The Fly Fisher’s Place’s extraor- dinary fishing expeditions. Many families coordinate with each other to send their fisherman on the trip of a lifetime — a gift that will never be forgotten. International trips to Chile, Belize and Tasmania make for extraordinary gifts of experience. And while you’re at it, get out there on the water. Owner Jeff Perin says that McKenzie River fishing is as good as it’s ever been; East Lake makes for a very special experi- ence, and never forget the local favorites, the Deschutes and the Metolius River. Three Creeks Brewing Co. Celebrating the season with the proper spirit and all the right flavors is easy. Just turn to Three Creeks Brewing Co. for its seasonal brews. Leading the sleigh is Rudolf Imperial Red, a big, malty beer that speaks to the season from its bottle to its aroma to its rich taste. And speaking of taste, Three Creeks will host a four-year vertical tasting on December 9 from 3 to 6 p.m. — which for a beer-lover is like Christmas two weeks early. Also on December 9 catch them pouring their seasonal Dark Hollow Winter Warmer at the Winter Brew Fest in Bend. Three Creeks brews are so much in the spirit of winter that they are poured in partner- ship with Hoodoo Ski Area, so you can enjoy your favorite beer after a session on the slopes. Three Creeks is releasing its Frontier Justice Coffee Stout — aged in whiskey barrels and just as robust as it sounds. Brewer Zach Beckwith says “it’s tasting really good, too.” 21 Workwear for your hardworking man!
