Folks didn’t notice the cold, with the warmth from the firepit and the warm savory taste of hot chocolate, coffee and fresh-popped corn provided by the Three Sisters Lions Club. Most important was the warmth of comrade- ship that this annual Sisters tradition brings to everyone who partakes. Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Judy Trego kicked off the festivities by thanking the Sisters business community for sponsoring the annual tree- lighting event for the past 14 years. Hayden Homes helped sponsor this year’s event. A popular custom is to bless the Christmas tree before lighting. Peter Storton, the leader and founder of the Sisters National Day of Prayer, took the honors, ending the prayer with the heartfelt words: “The tree stands in our midst as a tree of light that we might promise such beauty to one another and to our world.” Mayor Chuck Ryan welcomed everyone to the event and stated that “The great city of Sisters is the best city in Oregon by far.” RAINWATER CAFÉ, BAKERY & PIZZERIA 161 E.
